David Cohen is a patent agent and consultant for Mazakali in San Francisco. He is grounded in the biological and health sciences, having an AB from UC Berkeley, an MA from the University of Colorado, a PhD from UC San Francisco as well a postdoctoral appointment there to research the role of growth factors in cell culture. As a laboratory head in the pharmaceutical industry, he developed mammalian cell-based industrial scale processes for the production of human therapeutic proteins.
As a mid-career adjustment, he became a registered patent agent, and has worked for law firms and medical device companies, writing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO. As a consultant, he now works with start-up medical companies, and has recently taken a keen interest in the intellectual property aspects of cannabis.
Little Known Fact: David first encountered cannabis on Kibbutz Sha'ar HaAmakim, just south of Haifa.
