David Welch is a seasoned trial lawyer who specializes in complex business litigation, often involving novel legal issues, in federal and state courts, as well as before the California Supreme Court. Clients ranging from local governments to international corporations and celebrities turn to Mr. Welch for his experience in handling a multitude of business disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants.
In addition to his trial work, Mr. Welch serves as a key government affairs adviser to clients whose business interests involve state and local government. His government affairs expertise, as well as his robust trial practice, led the Los Angeles Daily Journal to name him one of California’s top 40 under 40 attorneys.
Prior to joining Greenberg Gross, Mr. Welch founded and managed his own boutique law firm, which, in 2015, was named a Top 25 Boutique Law Firm in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. In 2016, the National Law Journal named him an Intellectual Property Trailblazer. At Greenberg Gross, Mr. Welch chairs the cannabis litigation practice group, and his clients include some of the most significant companies in that space.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Welch has founded and manages the nonprofit organization “Operation re-Hire,” which provides pro bono legal services and social services to non-violent drug offenders, enabling them to more easily reenter the workforce and thereby reduce the likelihood of recidivism.
